Join Zachary Falck, Ph.D. and Lisa Brown, NMRWA’s outreach coordinator for this early morning walk through Frick Park and the Nine Mile Run restoration area. Zachary has taught environmental history at Carnegie Mellon University and Washington University in St. Louis. He has also written about Nine Mile Run in Western Pennsylvania History Magazine, a publication of the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center and the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania.
Stream Restoration Tour

Meet at the former Center for Creative Play parking lot
Join NMRWA outreach coordinator, Lisa Brown for this informative tour of the amazing transformation of Nine Mile Run. Completed in June 2006, the Nine Mile Run Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration is the largest urban stream restoration conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers in the United States. Come and see how the restoration has changed the valley and learn about the specialized techniques used for this unique habitat enhancement project. Wilkinsburg Shade Tree Committee--Member Search
The Wilkinsburg Shade Tree Committee is commissioned by borough council and is charged with ensuring the proper maintenance of Wilkinsburg's public trees. Responsibilities include coordinating volunteer tree care and planting events and participating in monthly committee meetings. Tree expertise is not required to participate.
