Are you interested in planting a street tree at your home or a property you own?
NMRWA is partnering with local groups and communities to plant more trees along the streets and in the public areas of the watershed. If you feel like your property needs a tree, please click on the link below for your appropriate municipality to get started!
These forms will be compiled for use in future tree planting initiatives by NMRWA, your municipality, or TreeVitalize Pittsburgh.
Right now we are only collecting Tree Request Forms for the areas of the City of Pittsburgh that are in the Nine Mile Run watershed. If you unsure of whether or not you live inside the watershed, please check your address on our Watershed Map.
If you live outside of the watershed and would like a tree, contact our Urban Forestry Coordinator, Jan Raether, at and he will connect you to the right resources!
Tree Request Approval Process
Tree Request forms are accepted year round, and may be utilized for NMRWA or TreeVitalize Pittsburgh tree planting projects. NMRWA uses eligibility and criteria requirements very similar to the TreeVitalize Pittsburgh program. Please review the eligibility and criteria page before submitting an application to ensure that the standards for location and tree care are met. Note that your tree is more likely to be planted if we receive a number of applications in a condensed area – ideally at least 10 trees in and around a few blocks – so spread the word to your neighbors to get more tree request forms in!
After submitting an application, our Urban Forestry Coordinator, Jan Raether, will contact you via email within a week. Please remember that NMRWA or TreeVitalize Pittsburgh are not capable of fulfilling every tree request, even if these requirements are met.
